I know, I know…everyone has such high expectations when starting a cleanse or detox. So you finally decide on a detox and start within a few days, but let’s be real once a week or so goes by life gets busy and well the detox goes to the wayside. It is quite possible that I am simply talking about myself…and that I have about half a dozen partially done cleanses/detoxes in my medicine closet. It’s good to have good intentions, right???
Well, the urge to do a detox came again, but this time I had decided that I was going to commit to the whole process. I feel like committing to the process is a win for me already. Usana was gracious enough to send me their 28 Day Detox Support program to try.
Here is what was included:
USANA CellSentials – Vita Antioxidant, Core Minerals
USANA Probiotic
USANA Digestive Enzyme
Hepasil DTX
MySmart Plant Shake
Fibergy Plus Booster
When you are detoxing, the last thing you want is to infuse your body with more toxins. So right from the start, I was a huge fan of Usana because they have very clean and high quality products. I am a pretty clean eater and I workout about 5x per week, so jumping on a clean diet to properly detox is fairly seamless for me; however ditching my daily cup of coffee habit can be quite challenging. Within a few days of starting the 28 Day Detox Program, I found that I was waking up full of energy and that my carbs craving was way down. YASSSSSSSSSS! I think my carb craving decreased so much because I was taking in a lot more protein. I was vegan for almost 6 years and then slowly introduced a little bit of organic animal protein back in my diet so I could try cutting out soy, but I don’t think I ever get quite enough protein. Since each shake serving is 18g os plant protein, 8g of fiber and only 150 calories, there is literally no better way to up your protein game. Its tasteless and has no added sugar..although I am a huge fan of mixing it with almond milk and strawberries for a little sweetness.
When I finished my 28 Day Detox…my body, mind and soul just felt plain awesome. This detox has reminded me that I need to always be mindful of what I put into my body and that doing a yearly detox is a must just to reset your whole body.
This a new quote I live by:
“Every time you eat or drink you are either feeding disease or fighting it”
