Its that time of the year again, wedding season. With the price of checked luggage increasing, I find myself traveling solely with a carryon and stuffing as much as I can in it with hopes that the gate attendant won’t notice that it most likely will not fit in the overhead compartment easily. I always go with the mentality that it is better to try and worst case scenario I might have to do a gate check which still kills me inside. The last time I was squeezing my bag into the overhead compartment, like a square peg into a round hole, my hubby gave me some sage advice: be more efficient with your packing. What?!?! Why didn’t I think of that…so here are some of my wedding weekend packing hacks that are a MUST:
- Deodorant: Yes you have probably already packed it for your armpits, but I also like to double up its use on the back of my heels and around the straps of my high heels where they rub. By doing this you will decrease your chances of post wedding boogieing blisters.
- Pill Box Container: This is also a doubly use item. One would be for your daily vitamins and minerals which already saves you a ton of room in your bag by not having any bottles. I like to use the leftover days to pack in rings or earrings. They lock into the container, easy to find and not easy to lose
- Press N’ Seal Wrap: Instead of putting your statement necklaces into flat boxes, where sometimes they fall out and sometimes get broken or tangled, I like to place them between two sheets of Press N’ Seal wrap to keep them from moving around. I like to opt away from the box altogether and place the necklace between clothes to really save space. This is one of my faves!
- Hair Donut: I always toss one in my bag. They take up very little space and its always a good back-up to a bad hair moment. You can throw your hair up into a perfect bun in minutes. Short on space, forget the curling iron or straightener and just bring some pins and the hair donut instead
- Commit: Commit??? You are probably thinking “I am not the one getting married?!?!” Yes, I am on the same page as you. I suggest to pre-planning what you are going to wear each day and commit to it. This really helps to not overpack and ensure you will have everything you need
HAPPY PACKING!
