Like a lot of women these days, I try to go as organic and natural as possible. Now, there are exceptions to this…like really really good mascara and such. I still want beautiful skin but with my schedule it does not leave a ton of time to get a facial or a good body scrub. Truly, there is nothing better than a good scrub at a korean day spa, but here is my fave at home scrub in a minute recipe:
- SUGAR it helps remove or exfoliate the outermost layer of dead skin, leaving you with super smooth skin. Some people use other exfoliating agents like sea salt, coffee grounds, or rice bran, but I have very sensitive skin and find that sugar is the gentlest
- OLIVE OIL a gentle moisturizer for your skin. Olive oil has the same healthy fats as avocado, and plumps and moisturizes the skin with a combination of vitamin E and vitamin A.
- FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE is super rich in Vitamin C acting as an astringent helping to make your skin glow, even out skin tone, dullness and smooth out skin (I like adding some fresh orange skin zest as well because it smells so good!)
- COCONUT OIL Nature’s best antiviral, anti-aging and moisturizer in my opinion. Coconut oil contains 3 fatty acids: capric acid, lauric acid and caprylic acid. Each of these acids kill candida, a common cause of fungal infection on your skin. Pretty much, coconut oil is the bomb to cook with and have in your skin care
- ROSEMARY OIL is a super powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. It helps tighten skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and also helps with acne and puffiness of the skin.
So what makes this the best skin care scrub that you can make in about 2 minutes? The OJ tones the skin while the sugar removes the dead skin and then oils come in hydrate the new skin. I generally scrub until the oils have dispersed into my skin. I did not add in measurements here because I like to add more or less of ingredients depending on what my skin needs that day. Experiment and find what works for you. Happy scrubbing!
