I recently at dinner and the subject of quinoa came up. Now you are probably wondering why? We all love quinoa because it is naturally gluten-free, it is a slow burning carb and it is chock full of protein. Honestly, what’s not to love? Well, my dinner mate did not love that he had to stand over the stove for 20-30 minutes stirring his beloved quinoa every few days.
EASY WAYS TO MAKE QUINOA
- Plug In Rice Cooker: Yup, it can cook in the rice cooker just like rice. Same proportions but it can take slightly longer.
- Microwave Rice Cooker: Pop into any Ranch 99 store and buy one. Its an easy, fast option. Quinoa comes out fluffy every time
- Stove Top Recipe:
- Bring your water to a boil
- Add in quinoa (it should be a equal parts water and quinoa)
- Bring mixture back to a quick boil
- Put a lid on the pot, turn temperature down to simmer
- Set your kitchen timer to about 20 minutes and walk away
So there you go. No more slaving over the cooktop babysitting your quinoa.
TIP: I love to make a big batch every few days. I keep it in the refrigerator and use it almost every meal. When warming it up, I always use this go to recipe:
- Use a saute pan
- Add 2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil (high heat oil, healthy/necessary fats)
- Add desired amount of quinoa
- Add some pepper and liquid aminos to taste
- Let your quinoa get a little toasted and its done
Bon Appetit!
