Calling all Cocomelon Fans! Pretty much every 2 year old will come running if you say that. Cocomelon is quite possibly the best show Netflix has ever created for toddlers. The music is so catchy and the show is so sweet and wholesome which I appreciate as a mom. While we don’t do a lot of screen time here, Cocomelon is definitely one of Max’s go to shows if he can watch something. We figured with Halloween coming up, it would be fun to DIY a Cocomelon Pumpkin. The squirrels in our neighborhood really love pumpkins, so we opted for a non-perishable one we found at Michaels so that it would last the next few weeks without some bites taken out.
What You Need:
Non-Perishable Pumpkin
Green Satin Acrylic Paint
Light Green Acrylic Paint
Purple Acrylic Paint
Purple Pipe Cleaner
2 Light Blue Pom Poms
Pink Felt
Black Felt
Something for the Whites on the Eyes
How to Make a Cocomelon Pumpkin:
- Paint the Pumpkin with the green satin acrylic paint. I ended up doing three layers to make sure it had nice coverage on the green paint for a good base to our watermelon inspired pumpkin
- Once base layer dries, use light green acrylic paint to make vertical stripes. I used the lines in the pumpkin as guides
- While the green paint dries, I cut out the pink for the watermelon face and eyes, nose and a mouth out of the black felt and attached to the pink felt. I also used white puffy paint for the whites of the eyes
- Paint the stem purple
- Once purple paint is dry, hot glue on the purple pipe cleaner in the middle to the stem
- Hot glue gun the blue pom poms to the ends of the purple pipe cleaner
- Glue the pink felt face of Cocomelon to the front of the pumpkin
That’s it! It turned out so adorable right? For my Cocomelon loving little dude, this pumpkin just makes him smile from ear to ear. I figure this pumpkin might be a goos decor piece for his room when Halloween is over. It is just so cute! This Cocome;on pumpkin actually inspired me to make Max a JJ costume to go with it. I took a pair of light green blue footie jammies he already had and added some felt whales I cut out. Pro tip: I used a whale cookie cutter we had, traced it on some felt and then cut them out. I used light yellow, blue and white felt. I then used a double sided tape to attach on to the jammies since I knew he would want to wear these again after Halloween. Paired this with some blue headphones we had and voila… meet JJ! The coziest little Halloween costume perfect for a little one who might fall asleep mid trick or treating.
