Both of my kids have been huge Pokemon fans for years so it is no surprise that when Pokemon Horizons came out on Netflix it was an instant favorite. They loved season one and cannot wait for season two of the show to come out. So as Halloween has been approaching, we have been talking about their favorite character (Pikachu) and how we could create a fun costume. I love creating a trick or treat pail that not only holds the candy but is the extra part of the costume that can really bring a DIY Halloween costume to life.
So we started with the plastic pumpkin pail we got from Walmart for $1.98. We decided to make a Poke ball out of it. First step was to spray paint it white. After it dried I used a piece of painters tape around the middle along with a mason jar lid part that was centered on the pail. I painted the top of the ball red with acrylic paint and then carefully removed the pianters tape and painted that area black. I used an acrylic pen to outline the area first and then black acrylic paint to fill it in. I spray painted the mason jar lid black and then used epoxy glue to adhere it. So easy and so cute to make a Poke ball pumpkin pail.
The pumpkin pail was so fun we knew we needed to make a Pikachu costume to go with it. I got my little one a yellow sweatsuit and then found a sailors hat at the thrift store that would be perfect to add some felt Pikachu ears too. For the Pikachu ears I used a piece of cardboard to cut the right shape and then hot glued some yellow felt to it front and back. I then added black felt for the tips and hot glued it on to the hat.
So easy and SO cute! Love how easy this DIY Pikachu costume complete with a Poke ball pumpkin pail plus the comfy and warm sweatsuit is perfect for trick or treat night!
