Premiere of Amazon Kids’ Stinky & Dirty Show

Thursday August 18th my little family was treated to the pre-release of Amazon’s new show, Stinky & Dirty (click the link for the first show) via KidzVuz. I have a 5 yr old boy so I figured any show about a tractor and a dump truck would be good. I should also be honest and say that I really don’t allow my son to watch a lot of television but we do love going to the local theater to watch the latest G/PG movie. He is still young and I love the idea of childhood unplugged. With that being said, there are times when I am exhausted from parenting or I have a meeting and I definitely need to use my iPad nanny so I am always in for finding a fun yet innocent show for him to watch. Knowing nothing about Stinky & Dirty prior to watching it, I had no expectations…boy was I in for a real treat.

So here are the details:

  • Each show is about 22 minutes long
  • The language is clean and appropriate for any age in my opinion
  • It feels more like an old school kids show as far as cartoons go…slower speaking, no addictive music and very sweet language
  • For an adult, it does not feel like you are watching a mindless show for kids
  • The voiceovers for the characters were/are done by kids…somehow that makes it much more magical and fun to me

THEME: Although each show is short in length and unique, each show has a couple themes that are always woven through it:

  1. Problem Solving: Stinky and Dirty get into these situations that they try to solve problems in. They go through a series of possible solutions and finally find one that works. They think outside the box and keep trying over and over again
  2. Working Together: Stinky and Dirty work together trying various possible solutions to their “problem.” Sometimes they “figure out” that if they ask a friend or friends for help, they can accomplish their goal

We definitely gives this show 2 THUMBS UP!!!

So after munching on popcorn and listening to my little guy giggling throughout the 2 shows we watched, we made our way to the grassy area at The Grove in Santa Monica where Amazon Videos had a pretty AWESOME after party that was decked out in the Stinky & Dirty theme!
