May 31st, I headed over to the Hills Penthouse for an inspirational night with Angela Davis and my fave reusable drink container, Corkcicle.
Yes, this is the Angela Davis from Soul Cycle who not only majorly kicks your physical butt while cycling she also has a way with words that will leave you a better human than when you came. I mean, Oprah is so inspired by her that Angela has been a speaker at Super Soul Sunday tour. Basically, if there is such a thing…Angela is Oprah certified.
So there is so much more Angela Davis that I learned last night:
Angela was a member of the USA Track and Field Team AND…wait for it….5 time All-American who held world rankings at the 100m. She ran track professionally for Nike, was an Olympic Trials semi-finalist and a member of the World Championship team.
So going back to last night, Corkcicle did a little meet and greet with some amazing women in the social space and served delicious drinks in a gold-ish drink container. What is amazing about these glasses is that cold stays super cold for 9 hours and hot liquids for 3; however, last night ice in my sparkling water (yes it was a wild and crazy night) was still ice over 14 hours later. Pretty amazing if you ask me.
Angela spoke for a little while doing what she does best..inspiring. Watch most of her talk here:
Two of my favorite quotes of the night were:
- We have all been assigned to inspire
- Stay in your lane and do your life’s work
These two quotes have left me thinking all day long. If you think of your every day as an opportunity to inspire, the day seems much more positive. If thats your only job every day…you literally cannot fail. I also think that you cannot plan your day around faux inspiring…you have to naturally let it come into your life. Be a beacon of positivity and life will fall into place.
Thank you for an incredible night Corkcicle!
