We are HUGE fans of dogs and movies so when those two things are put together…we are pretty much the largest FANS ever! We had the opportunity to screen A Dog’s Way Home, which is about a sweet dog named Bella who embarks on a 400-mile journey back to her owner, Luke. It is the most beautiful story about the unconditional love and dedication dogs have to their owners. We laughed, we cried and left the theater with a big smile on our face as we drove home. We definitely couldn’t get home fast enough to hug our pups.

Right at the beginning of the movie, a huge takeaway is that the pit bull laws in Denver are unfair and I love that this movie brings light to it. Per the movie, if 3 city/county personnel deem a dog part pit bull, it is not allowed in Denver and will be taken away by animal control. While I know there is more to learn about this law, I love that the movie sheds light on this topic due to the well done storytelling nature of this movie. This movie pulls on your heartstrings with the unconditional love that both dogs and their humans have for each other. I often think that when dogs become separated from their people they are tugged back home with an invisible leash of love.
The voice of the main dog in this movie Bella is played by Bryce Dallas Howard and she completely brings this sweet dog to life. Bryce stated that her sister Paige was the inspiration for the voicing of Bella. It was interesting to learn that her family dog, Frisky brought out her personality. She was very quiet as a child and never laughed but Frisky did it. Her family now includes two golden retrievers, Arthur and Story, who are therapy dogs. You can feel the love the genuine love Bryce has for dogs.
While I wont spoil the movie, this movie is a must watch for any dog lover! A Dog’s Way Home is out in theaters on Jan 11th!
