On Ep 6 of Quarantine with the Crownholm’s we made crispy garlic tofu rice bowls with green onions and it was crazy good. Super fast and easy to make and it satisfied our Chinese takeout craving. While we know are safer at home while the Coronavirus cases continues to increase nationwide, it doesn’t stop us from our cravings plus I am 24 weeks pregnant…so it has been challenging to find ways to satiate those cravings with what we have in the pantry while still tasting good. These Crispy Garlic Tofu Rice Bowls were insanely good last night and there is no doubt we will make it again and add in some broccoli and/or mushrooms.
The sauce is amazing and I know we will be using it in a lot of dishes in the future…It would be great with broccoli or stir fry or anything else you can think of that needs a darker, heartier asian sauce.
What You Need for the Sauce:
1/4c Hoisin Sauce
2 TBSP Soy Sauce (we used Liquid Aminos)
1 TBSP Olive Oil
1 tsp Sesame Oil
And a touch of sugar if desired .
How to Make the Dish:
- Cube and Saute the Tofu
- While waiting for Tofu to crisp…Chop Green Onions and start making the sauce
- Once Tofu is done, remove from pan and sauté minced garlic and green onions
- Once done, add tofu back in and add sauce
- Let simmer and coat the tofu
ENJOY!
