Summer is officially here and as a mom I am looking for the perfect summer blockbuster to escape the heat and get in some much needed fun. Well I will let you know that the latest Despicable Me movie has set the summer kids movie bar pretty high. Despicable Me 3 will have you laughing from start to finish! Thank you to Universal Pictures for hosting us for a special Despicable Me 3 event!
I was a little hesitant to take my 6 yr old to see the 3rd installment of the Despicable Me franchise because the 2nd movie did not go over well. He thought it was a little scary. Not knowing what the 3rd movie was going to be about other than there was going to be a fun 80s throwback and lots of bubble gum involved, we did not know what to expect but we were open minded.

We were lucky enough to attend a pre-screening event for Despicable Me 3 sponsored by Bounty Paper Towels, Yummy Spoonfuls and Kellogg’s. We met a real life minion, made minion cupcakes with Duff’s Cakemix and had a blast eating breakfast with friends and then heading into the theater.
I won’t ruin the film for everyone but Despicable Me 3 is AWESOME! It is tongue and cheek funny. For us parents, there are so many fun throwbacks to the 80s that will have you laughing for sure. Your kids will definitely not understand why you are laughing but thats what makes this film so fun. There is something for everyone and you will all be cheering Gru on the whole time.
During the press junket, Steve Carrell stated that this movie is definitely about the power of love and family which truly underpins everything in life. This movie is about having a good time, there are no real themes that kids should be picking up on.

One piece of advice that Steve Carrell’s character teaches all of us is that:
- Life isn’t always the way we want it
- The truth is better than fantasy
- Always tell kids the truth
Say “Aloha” to the Minions. Despicable Me 3 hits theaters June 30th. unvrs.al/DM3-Tix
