DIY My Little Pony Pool Noodle

October 3, 2022

One of my favorite toys when I was growing up was My Little Pony, so it was no surprise to me when my kids fell in love with My Little Pony during their childhood. It’s such a sweet show with great themes about friendship and life plus the ponies are just so cute and endearing. Pinky Pie and Rainbow Dash have always been family favorites of ours so we thought we should create some fun DIY My Little Pony Halloween costumes that were easy, fun and budget friendly.

Pool Noodle My Little Pony Stick:

I love a good pool noodle craft because they are so inexpensive at the dollar store if you are looking to buy one but I also craft with our leftover pool noodles from summertime. When I started the pool noodle pony, I wasn’t sure how I wanted to personalize the pony so I started with some Pinky Pie inspiration and then created with the materials I had at home already.

U Shape
Felt Ears

Step 1: Fold over the end of the pool noodle to make a tight U shape

Step 2: Use tape (I used masking tape) to keep the U piece together

Step 3: Cover the tape with a fun ribbon, washi tape or I used some holographic silver curling ribbon I had saved from a gift I received

Step 4: Cut two felt ears and hot glue gun

Step 5: Cut a felt mane. I cut one mane initially but felt like it needed more flair so I cut a second piece and it gave it the volume I was looking for. I recommend doing a couple layers.

Step 6: Cut or draw an eyeball. The eye is such a statement on My Little Ponies so I wanted to make sure I got it right. I had a difficult time cutting all the pieces so I went with drawing and was pretty happy with how it turned out. I glued lashes I colored on paper to the back

Step 7: Cut long strips of curling ribbon and then tape them together at one end

Step 8: Hot Glue the tail on to your pool noodle pony. I added a bow for fun on top which also help cover the masking tape on the curling ribbon

Step 9: Add some FUN to your only to really personalize it! I had some rhinestone laying around so I hot glue gunned some pieces on but you can also add glitter glue, more felt, more ribbon, more of whatever makes your smile!

This is one of my favorite budget friendly crafts of all time! I hope you are inspired to make a Pool Noodle My Little Pony Stick!
