Calling all space lovers! Yup! We have a whole house full of people completely fascinated by all things space. I think part of it is the unknown that we get to see and love every night in the sky and I think the other part is the constant discovery of new facts and ideas that only a select few people get to experience.
My kids have been wanting to get a telescope to see more closely and clearly the moon, stars and maybe some of the planets when they are close enough to our planet Earth. We have been going back and forth on what to get since we have a newly 3 year old and an almost 13 year old. We were introduced to the Magic Adventure Telescope by LeapFrog and I have to say it has exceeded all of our expectations. Since the mosquitos have had an affinity for us this summer, we have been exploring the fun parts of our yard with our telescope. For instance, this morning we saw what looked like a dragonfly who had gotten caught in a spider’s web in our neighbors yard. As we zoomed in, and brightened the screen we were able to see that in fact it was a dragonfly that got caught in the web and was currently being consumed by a large spider. It blew our minds. It was so fun to be able to see nature in action in such a clear and easy way plus we could take photos on our telescopes. Very very cool!
Some fun features I love:
- Zoom up 100x with a digital screen for clear viewing
- It’s a real telescope
- Activate 100+ amazing videos and images, courtesy of NASA and the European Space Agency, that deepen space knowledge by exploring the solar system, star life cycles, constellations and more.
- Capture and save images as you discover on the telescope
I love that the Magic Adventures Telescope is a STEAM activity (a fun way to have a little fun after school or before bed time). Its interactive for the whole family, hands-on and has a digital learning content that complements the real telescope mode, so kids are equipped to understand what they observe in the night sky. The digital screen makes it easy for both my kids to see what the telescope is focused on and allows for both kids to see all the fun on the telescope.
This is truly the best gift for any kid 3+ in my opinion
