Lunar New Year Celebration at Universal Studios

January 24, 2017

“Gong Ci Fa Cai” Happy Chinese New Year! 💥

A little something that you might not know about me is that I am half Chinese. I grew up celebrating Chinese New Year with my grandparents. We had a traditional New Year Celebration remembering and celebrating my ancestors. We would cook a feast for them and then wait for them to eat it, burn incense and then ask for their blessings for the year to come. Once the ceremonial part of the day was complete we would sit down and eat a wonderful Chinese meal.

This is a tradition that I keep alive every year with my little family. We still use the dishes my grandparents used and while I should be making all the food, we generally order takeout. Shhhhh…don’t tell my mom 🙈

This year we kicked off our Chinese New Year fun at @unistudios. They have an awesome Lunar New Year celebration. This particular New Year means a lot to me because its the Year of the Rooster…my year!

The plaza right after you walk in the gates of Universal Studios is decked out with fabulous decor.  There are so many great spots for photo opps. We were super excited to see the Mandarin speaking Megatron and the Kung Fu Panda, but Los Angeles has been abnormally rainy and these festivities were rained out. So sad for us but honestly we had a blast running around the park with no lines. When the harry Potter ride wait is 5 minutes, it’s a super awesome day.

So if you are looking for some Chinese New Year fun, head on over Universal Studios ASAP!

Can’t wait to explore more Lunar New Year FUN this week! ❤🌟❤
