On August 5th, my little guy and I headed down to Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) for the premiere of The Nut Job 2 by Open Roads Films. We were HUGE Nut Job (the original) fans and so there was no surprise that we were excited about the sequel coming out. Who doesn’t love nutty squirrels???
The red carpet was filled with the cast and crew. We chatted with stars like Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph, Bobby Moynihan, Isabela Moner (she is adorable) and one of my favorites Heitor Pereira who composed the music for the film. Heitor is a brand new dad and could not have been more excited about composing for a kid’s movie.
So what is The Nut Job 2 about:
Surly Squirrel (Will Arnett) and all of the fan favorites from the original Nut Job are back and ready for more nuttiness in Oakton. Although Surly and friends are quite possibly the cutest contingency around, the the evil mayor of Oakton has it out for them. He wants all the squirrels, moles, mice and more gone and furthermore wants to get rid of Liberty Park to make way for his dream amusement park, which is definitely not going to be to code. Surly and friends band together to do everything in their power to save their beloved home. Somewhere in their adventures they find formerly zen mice, have a romp in the Mayor’s home with his nutty daughter. You will be on the edge of your seat cheering on Surly and friends from start to finish.
Voices in the movie from Katherine Heigl (The Nut Job), Jackie Chan (Kung Fu Panda 3), Peter Stormare (Penguins of Madagascar), Bobby Cannavale (Ant-Man), Isabela Moner (Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life), and Maya Rudolph (The Angry Birds Movie)
