So, we at the Crownholm household have been practicing with our sippy cup and spoons for months now. Why, you might ask? Well, my little senor over here doesn’t like bottles. Bottles are for babies. I assure you he totally is one but he simply doesn’t want to hear. The first 5.5 months, this little man’s life he has enjoyed life straight from the tap at his discretion. While it is convenient and organic…mama needs a break every now and again. I assure you that my hubs is quite fabulous at helping out, but at the end of the day he just have the right goods to feed the dude. So this mama has been bound and determined to have the babe learn and be comfortable with the sippy cup when the time was right. I was definitely hoping for sooner rather than later with this.
So the day came somewhere around 5.5 months, when I thought the little guy was ready for a try with the sippy cup. What’s the worst thing that could happen…he just wouldn’t get any milk out. So I handed him the sippy with some b-milk in it and stood back and watched. He put his hand on the respective handles, tilted the cup back and chewed. He looked confused and then somewhat surprised. It was like a light bulb going off…milk comes from other things…interesting. While the sippy cup is a success, it is totally slow going and certainly not viable for a meal. Still determined to get this little guy satiated from something other than me, we recently tried the sippy cup with a straw. AWESOME! He can take down several ounces and feels like such a big boy doing so. While we are still bound at the hip, it is nice knowing that he is on his way to becoming a big boy and loving every second so far.
