You all know we love the Story Bots and we love bringing movies and shows from screen to real life so we figured we would make some fun crafts for kids. I initially thought that a water bead jar and a lava lamp would only be fun for the 2 year old but quickly learned that my 11 year old loved it just as much…so for a mom thats a huge win when both your kids love making and playing with the same craft idea.
Story Bots Craft:
What You Need:
Water Beads (I got these on Amazon)
1 Bowl
3 jars
Water
Baby Oil or Vegetable Oil
Aka Seltzer Tablet or Salt
Food Dye
Water Bead Jar How To:
I usually soak the water beads in a large bowl the night before my kids play with them so they are bigger and bouncier. First part of the fun was picking out the solo color of beads my boys wanted to use. They chose blue so thats an activity to start with. You can use any color or all the colors too. They are all really fun. Once you pick out the colors you want to use…put them in a jar. I used a standard mason jar and filled it about halfway. Then add water to the top, secure the lid and boom…it is just so fun to swirl around and look at.
DIY Lava Lamp:
This is such a fun and easy DIY for kids. We love the colors of the Story Bots, so we went with red food dye. Fill a mason jar 3/4 of the way with your oil, baby/mineral or vegetable oil. Then fill the last 1/4 with water. Add about 7-10 drops of food dye in and then add your alma seltzer tablet or if you don’t have that some salt and then close the lid and have fun shaking it and watching the bubbles move around
